Today I had the honour of painting my good friends new Barber shop (Kingdom Barbers) in Footscray West.
This was a big scale portrait using aerosols which was a new challenge for me. I began sketching my outlines and making sure the proportions were looking good before adding the grey tones.
One of the highlights for me when I’m painting in public is meeting members of the local community. People tend to be warm and genuinely appreciate the new art and what it brings to their neighborhood.
Big shout out to Rima for holding down the ladder and for the laughs.
Thanks to Joe and Rach for the opportunity!
I look forward to seeing this place packed with young people from all over the city.
Today I had some fun producing a caricature of the famous Ryan Gosling.
I know what you’re thinking… ‘Paul must be his biggest fan.’… but truth be told, he was just the first face I saw as I was having one of those ‘What should I draw?’ moments.
Skething on screen is very different to paper but there are some really handy brushes that work brilliantly with the Apple Pencil.
I’ll be available for caricatures this year upon request. You can contact me on email@example.com.
– iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, Procreate App
– iPad Pro with Apple Pencil using Procreate (Savage Interactive).
I always wanted my own pair of Reebok pumps. So I thought I’d sketch them to life!
– Copic markers / pencils
Oil pastels are not something I normally work with but I really enjoyed working with them on this piece. The colours came up vibrant and the small details carry a slight texture which really adds a sense of realism.
I thought it was time for an update… so here it is! I have recently been inspired to get back into the acrylics. This was an experiment using different brush sizes and some really vibrant colours.
Love to know what you think? Feel free to drop me a comment.
This project was shot as a time-lapse for a promo for Planetshakers Conference.
